Pearl Harbor Term Paper - Pearl Harbor Paper

Pearl Harbor is situated to the west of Honolulu and holds a significant position in the history of America. It was the naval base of American fleet in Oahu in Hawaiian Islands and in 1941 it was imposed to war by Japanese torpedoes and bombers. These attacks and bombardments became the main reason for United State to enter into World War II.

The bone of contention between these two countries was the poor and broken political relations. Actually, Japan in its fierce mood had taken control of Korea and Manchuria. And in 1937 they hit China stating French, British, Philippines and Dutch colonies to be their next targets.  On the other hand, Philippines were under Americans’ control. Moreover, Washington, US, had taken stand for China and had enforced penalty on Japan.

On November 20, 1941, the space became ferocious when Japanese government gave ultimatum to US, ordering them to get detach from the China issue. Furthermore, they commanded them to revoke the previous trade ban with Japan and give oil to them.

US took six days to respond to that deadline, and it was a dreary response. These consequences erupted into brutal and ruthless ends. Japanese lead their navy under sail. Japan was all ready with its fleet; they were heavily equipped and loaded with approx 423 warplanes, 6 aircraft carriers, 9 battle ships and 2 heavy and 1 light cruisers.

American nation was not informed of that move. Japanese sailed their ships slowly and adopted nefarious strategy. Gradually, on 6 Dec they entered the Hawaiian Island from the North West side. At night the coat of Oahu was occupied by 2 Japanese submarines and 5 midget subs. All ready to attack the Pacific fleet.

7 December, 1941, 4:50 a.m., America was under attack. 181 Japanese aircraft carriers dispersed into the sky and headed towards Pearl Harbor. There were 100 bombers with 51 dive bombers, 40 torpedo planes and 41 zero fighter planes. When the clock ticked 7:53 a: m, the massive attack began on Pearl Harbor. A continuous 2 hours bombardment was splashed by the Japanese from land and air.

The second attempt was targeted at Kaneohe. The nation suffered from a chorus of attacks from different directions.
The war brought bloodshed, ruins and embarrassment to humanity. Pearl Harbor, Arizona, Oklahoma, California and West Virginia were all sunk in crashes. 2403 Americans were put to death and the wounded figure went to 1176. 7 December 1941, that day is still remembered as a severe day that resulted in carnage, violence and cries. Attack on Pearl Harbor is an infamy to mankind.
