Free Term Paper on A Journey of
Maturation
As I think back to what I was
like a student and as a person in my first year of high school.
I have changed a Lot and further I will discuss that why I have
changed.
The Days of High School
In the beginning of high School I was frightened to face the new
place .The thoughts which were coming into my mind were how will
I cope up with new environment? Whether I will be comfortable or
not? After all, I did not even know two-thirds of my class, this
quaked my confidence. I was afraid whether the other students
will be cooperative or not? My mother helped me to remove such
fears and face the circumstances.

From the innumerable characteristics I would like to mention
some which I have developed over the period of time.
My first classes did not consist of students of my own age, but
mostly of upper classmen. They had the advantage of being in
familiar territory with familiar people. Studying amongst them
developed in me the habit of making new friends.
I got used to HARD WORK. This came in the form of homework. The
drudgery soon became a learning process. The regular home tasks
brought in me the sense of punctuality, responsibility and the
desire to work in order to prove the abilities.
It is a very essential characteristic which I developed while
participating in high school soccer games. Teamwork also
developed in me the qualities of civility, cooperation,
dependability, effort and responsibility.
The annoyances in school life and produce outbursts of
frustration or a temptation to snap at other, but I've learned
that the phrase "patience is a virtue" is very true. I have
learned in the high school days that one of the major
characteristic of success is patience .Without patience nobody
can control the undesired circumstances. Paying attention and
following verbal instructions are necessary to achieve effective
academic skills, but that not where it ends. Listening is the
ability which when grasped properly does prove fruitful for the
attentive listener. Good listener always finds his/her weak
points and tries to correct it. This led to a positive
interaction between staff, administrators and me, in which we
would sometimes dive into long conversations about common high
school problems.

A few confrontations throughout high school with egotistical
self conceited seniors have taught me, however, not to get too
confident and to keep my wits about me. It has taught me to be
cautious about whom I get involved with, and it’s shaped my
character-judging skills As a freshman, my inner self was
covered up a little more; due to the thought that I had to be
someone I’m not in order to become well-liked. Later, however, I
found that people respected who I really am, not who they want
me to be. I’ve watched some of my closest friends’ loose touch
with who they really are, but I’ve somehow always kept my morals
and standards the way I’ve learned them.
All these have affected my maturation throughout my high school
years. As time changed, I changed. All the influences and
experiences of my high school years from the beginning, meshed
in with the values instilled in me since childhood, has made me
who I am today.
