An invention is the creation of
something that did not exist before. It can be a simple gadget, a
novel process, a new material, or a complex machine. It requires
creativity and imagination to be an inventor. People invent for a
variety of reasons. Some invent in order to meet basic human needs.
Others invent to fulfill their own creative desire. Many inventions
are inspired by social or economic reasons, by the desire to make
life easier and comfortable or by the need to make money.
Inventions play a part n our daily life by providing us with the
things we need to live comfortably and healthily or by saving us
precious time and effort as we carry out our daily tasks. There are
too many inventions, which men have invented, or in the pipeline to
be invented, will shape the future of the world and mankind. But, as
far as my opinion is concerned, Computer has all the qualities to
shape our future.
Computer is the mother of all future inventions. For example, it is
essential to prevent a collapse of civilization in the future.
Computer simulations can be used as key to “preventive medicine” of
climate. It may allow us to understand the earth’s fickle climate
and how it is affected by detours of the great ocean currents. These
detours cause abrupt cooling within a decade that lasts for
centuries, sure to set off massive warfare as the population
downsizes to match the crop failure. Computer helps to learn about
the nonlinear mechanism in order to stabilize climate. Hence
computer can help to keep civilization from unraveling in another
episode of cool, crash and burn. There are hundreds and thousands of
other aspects of computer’s importance, which will shape our future.
To sum up it can be said that technological imperatives define only
what is possible, not what is necessary; what can be done, not what
must be done.
