Free Term Paper on Education and
Life
Today, we are in a new age, in an
era of technology, where world is a global village. We are all
at a turning point, and it can really being said that this
moment is the hour of education. Education is necessary and
crucial; otherwise the world will be reduced to slavery or to
the ranks of the machine.
Education is essential because there is a difference between a
man and a stone, between a man and a plant, between a man and an
animal and between a man and a machine. Man is superior to all
creatures of this world. A stone is what it is, it does not
change or develop, and any change in it comes from outside it
and it does not even know it. But it is not the case with a
human being. He has to develop and has to acquire knowledge to
know about himself and about his surroundings. That is what
education is for. It is easier for an educated person to become
a lifelong learner to acquire knowledge because he or she is
familiar with teaching and learning, whereas a person who has
experienced little or no education will find it more difficult
to become a lifelong learner.
In past this problem was not so imperative, because people lived
in separation and were not in contact with each other. For
centuries races lived side by side without any knowledge of each
other because mountains and oceans seemed an inclusive barrier.
But today when one has an easy access to almost every part of
the world it is no longer possible to live without education.
Today, there are still hundreds
of millions of men who cannot read or write and may be they
wonder what they are? Are they machines? Are they animals?
Education has played a central role in the life and well being
of societies. Education is obligatory if man wants to become a
person, an individual. Only Education is the magical door to
opportunity, which can help a man to achieve a fuller human
development and individuality.
In addition, education has
increasingly become an economic imperative. Globalization,
changing manufacturing and labor market structures, new
information technologies and ever-expanding frontiers of
research in the life sciences are combining to reshape most
aspects of life. Today’s information age creates opportunities
that hinge on knowledge and skills, making education
increasingly an important determinant of a nation's
international competitiveness in the global economy. It also
demands greater adaptability to rapid and unforeseen change in
the organization of life and commerce. In the new millennium of
knowledge-based societies, education has become crucially
important as an economic force and requires life-long learning.
In the twenty-first century, man will require even more
education than in the past. In the future; public schools,
technical schools, colleges, and universities must become a
heaven for lifelong adult learning. The knowledge and skills we
have now won't serve many of us in this world for very long.
We'll all need more education during our lifetime not only to
acquire individuality but also to survive and to be employable
and successful.
