Term Paper on Career Goals

Think of career goals as a to-do list for your career path. Career goals are a list of objectives and goals that you set for yourself before hand with a long term vision in mind. These goals can be anything from your choice of career to where you picture yourself in the next five years.

A term paper on career goals can take on a number of forms. It tests your ability as a student to research, write and analyze career goals, so you must decide on what aspect of this topic you wish to write on. This is usually the hardest part for students.
To create a balanced opening, you can begin your term paper on career goals by writing on the importance of setting these career goals. You will dedicate a large portion of your life to your career; it is all the more reason why you must plan it carefully and thoroughly. You do not want to end up in a job or organization that does not complement your talents and interests. Furthermore, not planning beforehand can result in rash, last minute decisions making.

You can go on to instruct the reader on how to set your career goals. This always starts by conducting a strengths and weaknesses analysis on oneself. Ascertain the skills, character traits, education, qualification and mindset you possess and determine where these features are applicable in the job market. You must always remember not to aim too low, it is always best to aim high when setting goals to make it challenging and exciting for yourself.

Do career goals actually work? By starting off with this in your introduction paragraph you can inject an argumentative element in your term paper on career goals. You can attempt to argue whether it is necessary to set career goals or can one actually go with the flow and grab on to opportunities as they arise. Perhaps setting career goals limits a student’s potential by already restricting a path. Whether setting career goals is important or an overvalued practice is entirely your opinion, all that you have to do is argue your stance by providing research, studies, reasoning, logic and an analysis.

Remember to start off by stating your stance on the topic chosen as a thesis statement which should be mentioned in the introduction.  Include relevant and reliable information that re-enforces your opinion in the body paragraphs.

Finally, conclude by reiterating your thesis statement by defending it in light of the research material.
